About The Global Ladybug

My blog’s goal is to write inspiring and useful content that you will find helpful as you plan your adventures. I characterize my travel style as flexible because I enjoy being able to explore a place without a ridge itinerary and find pleasure in the things that locals do in their everyday life and indulge in the comforts of a five-star hotel. You can say I am the definition of a thrifty bougie as I am a travel deal junkie.
Born in Sierra Leone, artisans and their crafts have always inspired me; sewing, weaving, or carving with their children or entire family shows a unique sense of family and community. In Africa and many developing countries, handmade goods and artifacts are a tradition that is often passed down from one generation to the other, but more so a means to sustenance.
In addition to providing useful content, I intend to share these traditional crafts from various African countries with the world and generate employment for these craftsmen and women. The purchase of these crafts will allow our artisans to provide for their family ultimately leading to a better life. Most importantly, we want to grow the network of artisans we are humbled to work with and provide more job opportunities for women.

I am in the process of building a small Eco- Resort called “Global Retreat”near the airport in Lungi, Freetown. Details to follow as we progress.
